Driftwood Lye is a unique, water-based product, which gives the wood a weather-beaten patina. The product is primarily for oak wood. By using this product, the wood will get a very nice two-dimensional design. Finally, the surface must be treated with one of the WOCA oils.
The unfinished woodwork must be clean, dry and finely sanded (grit 100-120) before applying the lye.
For application use safety gloves and glasses.
The surface needs light sanding and must be clean and dry and fully sanded to grit 100-120.
Shake container well and pour lye in a plastic paint tray. Make sure lye is shaken well and no pigments are at the bottom of container. The lye must be stirred throughout the process to keep the pigments from settling.
Apply the lye in an even coat and undiluted with a lye-resistant brush or paint roller along the grain of the wood, at least 1 litre for 110 sq.ft.
